A Close Encounter with Amakusa's Wild Dolphins

More than 200 wild bottlenose dolphins are known to inhabit the waters around Gowa in Amakusa. After just a short boat ride, you may encounter pods swimming, leaping, and playing alongside the boat. A small observation boat offers an intimate perspective from the water, allowing you to experience the energy of these wild dolphins in their natural environment. There are no performances or enclosures—just an unforgettable encounter with nature.

Faith and Fishing Life in Saitsu

Saitsu is one of the villages associated with the “Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki and Amakusa Regions,” a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, the Gothic-style Saitsu Church stands beside a traditional fishing harbor, surrounded by wooden houses, narrow lanes, and places of worship. Stay at a local guesthouse and explore the village with a guide to discover how faith became woven into everyday life during centuries of Christian prohibition. From across the water, the church reflected in the harbor offers one of Amakusa’s most memorable views.
