Itinerary Details
A 15-minute surprise: Amakusa wild dolphins
More than 200 wild bottlenose dolphins inhabit the waters off Gowa-cho, Amakusa. Just a 15-minute boat trip will allow you to see them leaping and playing alongside your boat. Our small observation boat allows you to get incredibly close to the surface and experience the vitality of this dolphin family firsthand. This isn’t an aquarium performance; it’s a pure and breathtaking interaction with nature.
Faith in daily life: Saitsu Village, a World Heritage Site
The Saitsu village is part of the “Lurking Catholic Heritage in Nagasaki and Amakusa Areas.” The Gothic-style Saitsu Cathedral stands beside the fishing harbor, interspersed with wooden fishing houses and shrines. Staying at a local guesthouse, you can join a guided tour of this “World Heritage in Life,” feeling the historical weight left behind by the era of Catholic prohibition, and capture the breathtaking view of the cathedral reflected on the water from the opposite shore – a truly spectacular sight.
