Itinerary Details
Hyogo/Amagasaki: A One-Day Shrine Maiden Training Experience | Learning Etiquette, Kagura Dance, and the Beauty of Purifying Body and Mind
Led by a priest, the participants tour the shrine grounds for worship and leisurely walks. They then change into Kagura shrine maiden attire and practice Kagura and dance (approximately 30-60 minutes) at the shrine office. The priest explains the meaning of Kagura passed down through generations, and the participants practice Hiragana and San-San-Kyu no Ou (a type of Kagura dance), or fan dances, until they can offer them to the gods. Afterwards, they ascend the altar with the priest, where, after the incantation is played, the Kagura they have just practiced is actually offered – a solemn and dignified moment.
Return to the office to change back into your original clothes; the experience is now complete. Depending on the time available, you may rest briefly at the office.

Assembly and changing clothes
Upon arriving at the shrine, change into the formal red and white shrine maiden attire (hime hakama), tidy your appearance and mind, and prepare for the sacred spiritual experience.
Etiquette Learning and Opening Ceremony
Under the guidance of priests, students learn the basic practices of shrine worship, walking posture, and sitting posture, and understand the dignity and respect that shrine maidens should possess.
Purify body and mind through action
Domestic cleaning experience
Participating in the daily cleaning of the shrine allows one to find peace of mind and experience the Japanese cultural spirit of “purity” through the process of tidying up the environment.
Lunch break and free time
During the lunch break, you are free to move around or have lunch around the shrine (as arranged by the shrine or at your own expense), and relax in the tranquil environment.
Complete the ceremony and take away an inner transformation.
Kagura dance and ritual practice
Learn the basic movements of Kagura dance and the sacred implements used in rituals, and experience the important role and cultural significance of the shrine maiden in religious ceremonies.
Formal prayer and meditation
Participating in a formal prayer ceremony, completing a day of spiritual practice, and receiving a certificate commemorates this unique cultural experience.

Important Notes
- This experience is available to participants aged 18 and over.
- Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that are easy to change in and out of.
- Traditional miko attire will be provided by the shrine and must be worn during the designated parts of the experience.
- Please follow the shrine priest’s instructions and observe proper etiquette throughout the experience.
- The Kagura dance practice involves standing and moving for approximately 30–60 minutes. Please inform us in advance of any physical limitations that may affect your participation.
- Photography may be restricted during certain rituals or in designated areas of the shrine. Please follow the staff’s instructions.
- The experience may be modified or cancelled due to shrine ceremonies, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.

- A 5% system cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations made for personal reasons after the reservation has been confirmed.
