Itinerary Details
The only one of its kind in Otaru! A sake salon on a houseboat.
Board the yagata-boat “Kayou” and depart from the shore amidst an elegant atmosphere adorned with red lanterns. With the selection of sake overseen by the renowned Otaru sake shop “Takano,” you’ll rediscover the myriad forms of Japanese sake, from fruity to dry, accompanied by expert guidance.
A Dialogue Between the Marine Landscape and the Taste Buds
During the two-hour voyage, you can not only taste a variety of carefully selected local wines and the owner’s homemade snacks, but also enjoy the golden sunset sinking into Otaru Port and the gradually illuminating canal night view from the sea, and enjoy the most leisurely Hokkaido summer night.
Itinerary
A lightly tipsy start and introduction of wines
Check-in and instructions at the boarding area
Meet at the boarding area near the central bridge. Individual wine glasses will be provided, and the tour guide will give a briefing on the itinerary and safety guidelines.
Casting the moorings and departing from port, and the first round of tasting
The houseboat slowly sailed into the harbor. The first round of sake featured micro-sparkling and fruity notes, setting the stage for a refreshing sea voyage.
Nighttime Immersion and In-Depth Review
Appetizers and the second round of drinking
As night deepens, pair the meal with the wine merchant’s homemade snacks and delicacies, then move on to acidic and spicy wines. Experience deeper flavors through the food and aromas.
Harbour view photo opportunities and free exchange
Feel free to add your favorite wines, exchange ideas with fellow enthusiasts, and take photos against the backdrop of the shimmering Otaru Harbor at night.
Return and Commemoration
Return to disembarkation
The ship returned to the dock. Unfinished or resealed wine may be taken away in accordance with regulations.
The trip has come to a successful conclusion.
With a slightly tipsy and joyful mood, I strolled back to the Otaru Canal District to continue enjoying the romantic evening.
