Afterwards, board the seasonal “Drift Ice Story” sightseeing train and enjoy breathtaking views of the pure white drift ice and deep blue Sea of Okhotsk from the train window.

Meet in Abashiri & Depart
Meet at JR Abashiri Station or the Abashiri Bus Terminal and board the dedicated sightseeing bus for your winter adventure.
Set Sail on the Icebreaker “Aurora”
Cruise through the Sea of Okhotsk for approximately 60–75 minutes aboard the icebreaker “Aurora.” Watch as the ship breaks through the drift ice and take in the spectacular winter scenery. With some luck, you may even spot wildlife such as seals or Steller’s sea eagles.
Explore the Abashiri Prison Museum
Explore the preserved buildings of the Abashiri Prison Museum at your own pace and learn about the history of the prisoners who contributed to the development of Hokkaido. The museum offers a fascinating insight into life in northern Japan during the early modern era.
Seasonal Seafood Lunch
