Winter's Natural Refrigerator: Why are carrots sweeter under snow?
Tsunan Town is known for its heavy snowfall, and farmers deliberately leave the carrots that ripen in autumn under the snow to overwinter. The thick snow acts like a natural, temperature-controlled refrigerator, and the carrots convert their starch into sugar to resist the cold, increasing their sweetness to about 12 degrees (comparable to fruit), and they have almost no earthy taste. Even children who don’t like carrots will be amazed.
Healing Time Discovery on the Snowfield
Put on your winter boots and step into the deep white wilderness. After lifting the snow layer, pull the brightly colored carrots out of the soil with your own hands—the joy of harvesting is incredibly therapeutic. Not only can you take photos and check in, but you can also experience the unique “winter hibernation culture” of this snow country.

Report to the designated location in New Greenpia, Jinan. Receive necessary tools and have staff demonstrate how to properly dig the vegetables without damaging them.
Enter the snowfield excavation area
Walk to the snow-covered farmland. Feel the soft, thick snow under your feet and search for the “red treasures” hidden beneath the snow.
Picking experience and sharing of results
Digging Fun Time
Dig up carrots from under the snow by hand. Observe the differences in texture and color between overwintered vegetables and ordinary vegetables. With the help of a guide, clean the vegetables and take vibrant photos of the harvest.
