The Rebirth of a Century-Old Teahouse: The Timeless Aesthetics of Kenrokutei
Kenroku-tei, established in 1918, sits beside the oldest fountain in Kenrokuen Garden, a building that has witnessed a century of history. Renovated in 2022, it perfectly blends the warmth of traditional wooden construction with a modern sophistication. Sitting before expansive windows, watching the flowing water features of the garden while savoring exquisite Kaga cuisine—this unique sense of luxury can only be experienced in the early mornings at Kenrokuen Garden.
The Beauty of Seasonal Flavors: Kaga Cuisine Nurtured by the Land
The breakfasts here are not just a visual treat, but also a feast for the senses. The chef carefully selects seasonal wild vegetables and seafood from the Ishikawa and Kanazawa areas, especially the signature “Chibu-ni,” which involves stewing duck meat coated in flour in a special broth until it has a rich and smooth texture. The white rice, freshly cooked in an earthenware pot, gleams with a glistening sheen, and is served with a bowl of steaming hot Kaga-bocha porridge. Before you leave, your taste buds will have already been conquered by the abundance of Kanazawa.
