Itinerary Details
Winter's Best: Uramura Oysters
Uramura in Toba City is one of Mie’s best-known oyster-producing areas. Enjoy a special 100-minute all-you-can-eat feast at a farm-operated oyster hut, with oysters grilled and steamed to order. Depending on the menu, you can also enjoy other local oyster dishes such as oyster rice, fried oysters, and oyster hot pot.
Ise Jingu & Okage Yokocho: The Heart of Ise
With a history stretching back around 2,000 years, Ise Jingu is one of Japan’s most important Shinto shrines. Cross Uji Bridge and follow the approach through the sacred forest to the Inner Shrine, taking in the peaceful atmosphere along the way. After your visit, explore nearby Okage Yokocho, a lively historic street lined with traditional shops, local food, and crafts. Try Ise’s famous red bean mochi or Ise udon, and browse the many shops for unique souvenirs.
